The AYA team at the 2025 studio shoot

As a renowned dance couple, Anne and Anichi have performed on stages all over the world and have been invited for years to teach at festivals and congresses worldwide. Today they also run their own festivals in Freiburg: five days every summer and a weekend in February.

They are German salsa champions, European champions 2007 in Blackpool and salsa world vice-champions 2009 in Miami. In 2010 they settled in Freiburg and opened the AYA Latin Dance Academy, where they teach with a method of their own, passing on years of experience to their students.

Anne Böhm

Anne Böhm

Raised in Cali, Colombia, Anne grew up with the sound of salsa. She started with ballet and floor gymnastics as a child before falling for salsa. Long stays in New York and Cuba shaped her very own style: a blend of New York On2 and Afro-Cuban elements. With Anichi she became European champion in 2007 and world vice-champion in 2009. Her open manner, her teaching, musicality and four languages — German, English, Spanish, Italian — define her classes.

Anichi Pérez

Growing up in Ecuador, Nicaragua and partly in Cuba, Anichi met the contagious rhythms of Latin America early. At 12 he joined a ballet and salsa school run by a Cuban who discovered his talent. At 18 he moved to Germany, where he met his dance partner Anne. Through training, discipline and trips to Cuba, New York, Puerto Rico and Milan the two danced their way from Freiburg to the top of the world. Expertise, natural charisma and his love for salsa make him a much sought-after teacher.
